Oh Hey! Are you tired of Pinterest-perfect projects that never quite turn out the way they do in the photos? Me too. That’s why I decided to take a little shortcut when it came to giving my old, tired swing set a much-needed makeover. And guess what? It turned out better than I could have imagined.
In this post, I’m going to spill the beans on how I managed to cheat my way to a gorgeous swing set makeover by hiring painters (gasp!). That’s right, I took the easy way out, and it was totally worth it. But don’t worry, I’ve still got plenty of fun and easy decor ideas to share with you to personalize your own swing set and make it truly unique.
So grab your paintbrushes (or just hire someone else to do it), and get ready to transform your backyard into a DIY paradise. Let’s dive in!
Why are swing sets so ugly??? Seriously though the wood and the green just do not work for me.
We bought this gorilla playset and had it delivered and installed(worth every penny)! The orange color of the wood was not the vibe but I was really dreading painting it myself. I even have a paint sprayer but its still a lot of work so I kept putting it off.
Fast forward a year and I hired painters to paint the exterior of our house. As I was walking though the backyard with the painter discussing everything that needed to be painted I got the greatest idea! I asked him if he could paint the swing set! Now this is something I probably would not have paid someone to come do on its own but it worked out they could paint it the same color as the house and i decided it was absolutely worth it to not have to do myself.
I took all the green parts off for them and got it prepped so they could spray it. The painted the entire swing set Balanced Beige by Sherwin Williams. It looks white but its actually not.
Now that the hard part was done I can take it from here!
I wanted the swing set to match the paint scheme of our house so I needed the trim to be Mothwing by Sherwin Williams which was a few shades darker.
I painted all the plastic green parts with a primer first and then the same super paint from Sherwin Williams that the painters had leftover. I topped it off with a clear polyurethane protective coating.
Now for the fun parts!
So there you have it, folks! I managed to give my swing set a total makeover without breaking a sweat by simply hiring painters to do the job for me. From chic color schemes to quirky decor ideas, my swing set is now the envy of the neighborhood.
If you’re feeling inspired by my lazy DIY approach, why not give your own swingset a much-needed facelift? Get creative, hire some help, and watch your backyard become the ultimate hangout spot.
Don’t let the fear of DIY disasters hold you back – cheat your way to swing set success and make a statement in style. Your swing set makeover awaits!
